One of the most famous, rich and inspiring traditional festivals - or celebrations is Carnevale Di Venezia.
In this article, I will describe you briefly origin of this stunning event, which makes you better understand, how great it is, if you can experience it even nowadays.
Venetian Carnival is originally being connected with ancient traditions of Latin Saturnalia and the Greek Dionysian cults. These fiests were religious festivals, were mask and symbolic representations were present.
Venetians recreated traditions due their own needs and purposes.
To see the connection : during Saturnalia of ancient Rome, people could "hide" their scial status - everyone was gathering and enjoying themselves, celebrating with music, dance - both slaves and free citizens. This would not be possible during the normal days of the year.
During Greek Dionysia processions and plays, humans were willing to be connected with nature and superiority, to free themselves of social conventions established by the civil system.
